Analytics & Execution PM Interview Coaching

Analytics and execution PM interview coaching thumbnail

This is the round where strong candidates get quietly eliminated.

It looks tactical — pick a North Star, name some metrics, resolve a trade-off — so people under-prepare. Then they hedge, fumble the numbers, and a "hire" turns into a "maybe." The good news: it's the most learnable round in the loop. Once you've got the moves, it becomes a place to score big.

Fly the plane

You're the new captain taking over a plane that's already in the air. The cockpit is covered in dials — every metric you could track — and your job is to prove you can fly it today.

That means fluency: knowing which instruments matter, reading them fast, making a confident call. We'll get you to where you can step into any product's cockpit and look like you've flown it for years.

The moves that signal seniority

There's a craft here that goes way beyond "know your metrics."

  • The metrics dump, done right

Rapid and fluent reads as senior; scattered reads as junior.

  • A North Star you can defend

And the very common metric type that's secretly a trap.

  • Counter-metrics & downstream effects

Think in whole ecosystems, not single numbers.

  • The three trade-off types

Each with a clean framework, a decisive answer, and the exact phrasing to open like a real operator.

The secret to this whole round is decisiveness — and decisiveness comes from drilling the patterns until they're reflex.

Mark helped me prepare for my execution interview and offered practical insights on how I could enhance my approach. He even offered an alternative framework, from which I borrowed parts and adapted!

Estimation, back on the menu

It quietly vanished from PM loops for years — then came roaring back.

Estimation now shows up in a meaningful share of interviews, testing your comfort with ambiguity and intellectual honesty. I'll show you how to keep your model simple, sanity-check yourself, and critique your own answer in a way that reads as confident rather than unsure.

What you'll walk away with

  • Fluency to run any product's metrics on command
  • A decisive framework for every trade-off you'll face
  • The calm that comes from having seen every pattern before
  • Live mocks that surface the exact moments you're losing points

Pricing

$250 per 60-minute session. Most people start with one — then add more as they feel the value and want to go deeper.

If you already know you want a full run at it, there's a 5-session bundle for $1,000.

Frequently asked questions

What is an analytics or execution PM interview?
You're the captain of a plane already in flight: diagnose goals and metrics, pick a North Star, name counter-metrics, and make trade-offs under pressure. Estimation often shows up too.
How should I choose a North Star metric?
Pick a metric that tracks real user value and business health — not a vanity counter. Be ready to defend it, list supporting metrics, and name what you'd watch so the North Star doesn't get gamed.
