Product Strategy Interview Coaching

The strategy round is where you stop being a product manager and start being a CEO.
The questions get bigger — Should we buy this company? Enter this market? 5x this business in three years? — and the winners think at altitude without losing the plot. Strategy is often called the highest-value skill in all of product management, and most PMs barely practice it. That gap is your opportunity.
Think at the top of the building
Imagine the company as a 100-story building. Every question lives on a floor.
Strategy questions live at the very top — the Sundar-and-Thomas-Kurian floors, where the conversation is revenue, markets, regulation, and where the industry is heading. No features. The skill is knowing when you've been taken to the top floor and shifting your brain to match. We'll make that automatic.
The three questions — and the crafty close
There are really only three flavors of strategy question. Each has a clean way in.
Should we buy Company X?
The acquisition question.
Should we enter Category X?
The market-entry question.
How do we grow revenue 10x?
The multi-pillar question, with a four-pillar recipe that makes it almost easy.
My favorite trick of the whole round: "the Debug." After your answer, spend two minutes naming what you didn't cover — regulation, pricing, the ecosystem effect. It disarms an interviewer hunting for the gap, and signals exactly the truth-seeking maturity they want.
“Mark helped to strategize my thoughts in targeting the roles I would like to apply for. He was patient in answering all my questions. I will definitely recommend him.”
Strategy vs. strategic insights
Know which one you're being asked — it's the difference between sounding sharp and sounding lost.
- Full strategy — a 20-minute CEO-level deep dive
- Strategic insight — a shorter, conversational probe on acquisition, engagement, or retention
We'll drill both, and size your answer to match the moment.
Ready for the modern bar
Today's strategy interviews reward awareness of what actually keeps executives up at night:
- Antitrust and regulatory friction
- The AI-era scramble for compute, data centers, and power
- The non-obvious competitor who isn't in the category today — but could be tomorrow
I'll help you weave these in naturally, so you read the same tea leaves the leadership team does.
Pricing
$250 per 60-minute session. Most people start with one — then add more as they feel the value and want to go deeper.
If you already know you want a full run at it, there's a 5-session bundle for $1,000.
Frequently asked questions
- What do PM strategy interviews test?
- Whether you can think at CEO altitude — markets, moats, growth bets, and trade-offs — then close with intellectual humility. Typical prompts include buy/build/enter-category and 5x–10x revenue growth.
- How is strategy different from product sense?
- Product sense climbs from a user problem to solutions. Strategy starts higher — company goals, competitive dynamics, and portfolio bets — then lands a recommendation you can defend.
